WHY SHOULD YOU TAKE PART IN THE PROGRAM?

The Retail Certificate provides solid knowledge and practical experience in the retail trade field.

This program is offered to undergraduate students who can complete it as part of the curriculum and, on completion, receive a diploma in addition to their professional qualification, which identifies them as specialists in the field.

General objective

To train professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills for employment or to set up a retail business.

WHO IS THE PROGRAM FOR?

This certificate is offered to students of the Tecnológico de Monterrey in the following majors:

  • Licenciado en Administración de Empresas (LAE) (Degree in Business Management).
  • Licenciado en Administración Financiera (LAF) (Degree in Financial Administration).
  • Licenciado en Diseño Industrial (LDI) (Degree in Industrial Design).
  • Licenciado en Economía (LEC) (Degree in Economics).
  • Licenciado en Mercadotecnia (LEM) (Degree in Marketing).
  • Licenciado en Negocios Internacionales (LIN) (Degree in International Business).
  • Ingeniero Industrial y de Sistemas (IIS) (Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering).

Academic program

In order to provide a solid education in response to the increasingly demanding needs of the industry, our focus is on an innovative model that aims to develop competencies and uses a combination of modules and challenges as a delivery platform.

LEARNING MODEL

Using the Tec21 Model as a platform, the modules and challenges integrate students into teams that rotate five functional roles related to our TecStore Retailing Lab. In each role, they are responsible for solving the task assigned to the team.

In addition, certificate students are responsible for TECstore's sales and profitability results and present these results in a formal board meeting.

The following vignettes list some of the areas that are reviewed during the rotations.

 

  • Shopper marketing.
  • Designing the in-store shopping experience.
  • Merchandise management.
  • Service and operations in retail.
  • Value management for the company and the customer.
  • The pillars of the retail operation.
  • Building the store brand.
  • Innovation in retail
  • Negotiating with suppliers.
  • Project management.

Internship I & II

The students will apply the knowledge acquired during the program in a retail business.

During the summer, students will work in a retail business for seven hours a day for five weeks to learn about the different areas within the business and will have the opportunity to solve a problem or complete a specific project.
